Widow Matrimony
In an old Hindu tradition, a woman
whose husband dies must immolate herself on her husband’s funeral pyre. This
process used to be called Sati. But after 1829, East India Company banned
this ritual. In the early 20th century, a leading Telugu newspaper organized public awareness about the Telugu widow matrimony. In their editorials and
journals, they promoted the importance of Telugu widow matrimony. Now, it is
not difficult for a widow or widower to find a partner for life again. There
are many matrimonial sites and organizations for those who want a remarriage.
People leave their information with pictures on these matrimonial sites for
marriage proposals where they can easily find life partners. These sites are
authentic and most of the time responsible for those marriages. These
organizations also organize meetings among families to give a final shape to
proposals.
